Moving into a smaller place

Not a total loss

Last week that is. Despite setbacks and drawbacks I went ahead and weighed in anyway. The results were better than I had hoped; no change. So I am still in the same place and that’s okay. This week looks to be on track as long as I keep at it.

I just really liked this.

Yeah, so umm…

This week has both sucked AND blown. I am taking the easy out and not weighing in this week. I’ll be back on routine tomorrow and will see how things have progressed around this last week.

When it rains…

It makes motorcycles fall down.

So, I got caught in the rain on my ride home Tuesday night and laid my bike down.  Got some road rash out of it as well as some bruises and a sore shoulder.  The bike came out with a few scratches and a brake pedal that needs to be bent back into position.

What does that mean for progress?  Well, for right now the exercise portion of my plan is on hold.  When I get some movement back and especially the ability to take many deep breaths again, I’ll revisit that.  (I can breathe normally just fine, but it is difficult to cough, sneeze or breathe too heavily right now.)  I have stuck to healthy food for the most part.  Amie has brought dinners the last two nights and argued that I need caloric intake to provide healing.  I am in mixed agreement, but also recognized that she is having stress of her own and was doing some comfort eating, so I was flexible.

We’ll see what the weigh in on Sunday looks like.

Weekend update

It was with a bit of trepidation that I stepped onto the scale yesterday.  After a very good first week losing 5 pounds, I was a bit less strict with myself during the week.  Or at least, I found myself not talking myself out of little concessions that I faced.  There were a few mini muffins and a few lazy dinners of less than healthy foods.  Overall, still making better choices, but a niggling of doubt stepped onto the scale with me.

And I was down another 2 pounds!  (Current weight 375 lbs.)

I was a mix of excited and disappointed.  I was hoping for at least three pounds of loss, but was fearful that there would be none.  It is kind of silly, I know, but at least the better choices I have been making have been rewarded.

With the joy of accomplishment as my companion I went to Sunflower market and stocked up for the week.  Chicken breasts, Greek yogurts, fresh green beans, Brussels sprouts, carrots, apples and skim milk.  When I got home I put together a menu for the week and am ready to hit this week in full force.

Now I just need to add an exercise portion.  That’s going to be a challenge.  I hate waking up any earlier than I absolutely have to and when I get home I am usually sapped by the heat of the Arizona summer.

But I will find a way.

Hope you all have an amazing week and stick to your healthy eating plans!

(Insert Clever Title Here)

Okay, yesterday was a good day. Late dinner, but it was good and I brought the leftovers to work for lunch today. Chicken breast with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, basil and fennel seeds, steamed and served with brown rice and mixed veggies.  (I used a bit too much fennel, but it was still very tasty and smelled AMAZING!)

Hot dog Thursdays have been canceled for the time being, so my lunch on my free day has been healthy for the last couple of weeks.  Normally I have dinner with friends on Thursday, but several of them are going to Weird Al tonight and I am faced with the decision of whether to have a healthy dinner, or keep my free day and have the onion rings that I have been craving since my co-worker was talking about her lunch.

Tune in tomorrow to find out what happens!

Also, Monday brings the addition of a work out portion of the show!

OH! Another thing;

I measured myself last night.  (When you get out of breath measuring yourself, that is a pretty clear indicator that you are WAY out of shape!)  As soon as I can figure out how, I am going to post my starting number in the side bar.  But until then, here they are:

As of 09-Aug-2010:

Weight: 377lbs. (Down 5 lbs. from initial weight of 382 lbs.)

Neck: 17 3/4 inches

Chest: 57 inches

Stomach: 67 inches (At belly button level)

Waistline: 62 inches

Thighs: 32 inches

Calves: 17 1/2 inches

Part of why I think my actual weight surprises people who I tell is that I don’t carry much weight in my neck and face like many do.  Mine is all belly, so I don’t anticipate my neck measurement to change too much.

The Bad News Is

That I left in a rush and forgot my lunch again.  But from almost 4 years of NOT bringing lunch being routine I guess it isn’t too terrible.

The GOOD news is that I got to make a trip around the corner to Fresh & Easy to pick up something yummy!  So now I have lunch for today and tomorrow as well as yogurts for breakfast the rest of this week and plenty of fruit to snack on, all for just $12 and some change.  Lunch was skinless chicken tenders, marinated in sweet chili peppers and seasonings, some potatoes and marinated stewing tomatoes.  My taste buds are still dancing!  They also had some delicious looking Ahi tuna steaks that I may pick up on the way home to become dinner!
